I don't usual rate abstract shots so highly but the wonderful colours and the variety of textures on show here along with the clear understanding of what's being depicted make this a winner for me. Top five!

Nice idea, great composition and perfectly composed. The little bit of napkin annoys me and could've been cloned out or masked but that's nitpicking, a great result!

One of two balloon burst shots both with great concepts, I love the amount effort this must have taken to get right. Great expression on the subject too!

I'm curious how the burst was achieved :)

I love this and have rated it highly. There are a handful of great studio/glass shots in this contest but this is the most colourful and original I reckon. Great job!

Extra points for effort (and cleanup!) as well as a fun take on a shot you don't see that often. Beautiful exposure too. Probably my number 1. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is an interesting sky with the different layers working down. I'm not sure it fits the challenge so well as it isn't giving me that 'stillness' vibe with the tracks of what looks like a boat across the water and the sun moving down in the sky. Beautiful shot though, I'm sure it was great to see in real life.

EDIT Revisiting this challenge and I am bumping this up a little as I imagine watching a sunset like this has a certain peace to it.

This is a great composition in a difficult location and a great character shot. Love the angle, love the subject and the choice of black and white. But I absolutely hate the filter used... I'm sorry. I'm not the most old-skool here but it just doesn't look real or sincere. If a film look is desired less is more for sure. The whole image is a little over-cooked in that sense. But man am I jealous of the shot itself. I'd love to see it revisited with a different edit. Not necessarily much more different, just more natural.

EDIT Revisiting this... I've never liked in a place where the laundromat is part of daily life, but I have used one from time to time and if sitting there alone waiting for the cycle to finish is anything like waiting in a doctor's surgery or similar then I actually do kind of get that some may get a kind of peaceful stillness in waiting, especially as it's a regular chore. I'l going to judge this based on the photo itself so I'm bumping up my score as per my previous comment.

Great capture of a difficult subject. Is the sun rising or setting behind there? Lighting the sky seems like it will always be difficult at this location but I'd love to see another go in different conditions as this could be a real gem.

I'm sorry I think you chose the wrong composition for this one and not the most ideal challenge fit. It's also a little too soft so I don't know where I'm supposed to be looking. Your camera seems to be struggling with the light available too... There's perhaps a nice countryside composition in there just outside the window (if that is a window you're shooting through) that would improve this shot massively.

This is a nice, soft and well-executed portrait shot with a subtle vignette that I think works perfectly. I don't associate crashing out on a table with the kind of 'stillness' sleep one would get lay down, but it's a good shot that I guess just about fits into the challenge. Great colour work too, soft pastels all over and perfect skin tone.
