Superbâ€Â¦ This does it for me. It really evokes fond memories – mostly of being cold and wet, but fond nonetheless :) I can just imagine running full tilt and jumping for all I'm worth at that ropeâ€Â¦ Ooops – forgot my age for a moment. I can't fault the shot, as I say, it works for meâ€Â¦ Thanks for the memory (10)

Buggy Vs Lego Mountain!

This is a superb shot technically; the lighting and exposure are spot on and it’s great use of macro. But, I think that the composition lacks something. It seems to me like everything in the shot merges together taking the eye away from the central theme. On the positive side, it’s an interesting and well thought out imageâ€Â¦ Good luckâ€Â¦

Fantasticâ€Â¦ This is an outstanding idea complimented by excellent photographic work. The sense of scale you have achieved is superb, the composition screams out what it was like to be a small child confronted by an enormous loo - for want of a better word :) Lighting is greatâ€Â¦ Can't add to that, great shot – good luck (10)

Oh, wicked shot. I love itâ€Â¦ It has everything this one; it’s a superb angle giving the shot a really good sense of scale, lighting is spot on and – most importantly – you have paid great attention to detail, right down to the puddle. The way the background slopes away gives the scene the final cutting edge. It was well worth the effort of going on location – it really makes the differenceâ€Â¦ Great shot, good luckâ€Â¦ (10)

Childhood Spent Locked in Closet, Rays of Hope

Rays of hope would have sufficed as a titleâ€Â¦ The image is quite powerful and provides a glimpse of a darker side of growing up. In terms of the challenge it fits. I think the only way you could have improved the image would have been to make the visible element sharper.

This reminds me of an empty set on a children's TV show – that isn't a criticism by the way. I like the atmosphere created by the candles and the lighting and the feeling that there's nobody around to witness the scene. It has a lonely feel - almost like it's pretending to be happy. The angle is very clever – it creates the illusion of a stage curtain rather than household curtains and this adds to the surreal effect. I have to say, this is a great shot. I may not have interpreted this shot as you intended, but then I might :o) Sometimes the guessing is as much fun as the challenge itselfâ€Â¦ This picture has had me looking at it for ages, so, it has made me thinkâ€Â¦ (10)

I'm a sucker for atmospherics in a shot and you have captured the element perfectly. It meets the challenge in an unusual way – after all, the easiest way to lose your children is to leave the door open. The purist voter may pull the lighting apart or find something wrong with the composition or focus, but personally, I like the whole effect. It creates a surreal effectâ€Â¦ (10)

Protective Mother
by TomNTexas

Comment:
This is a great idea and a very cute shot, but there is a flawâ€Â¦ As you have stated in the title, it's a protective mother and although not human, she is still their mother – therefore, the other two must be her children, and they are also in the shot; so I think it breaks the rules of the challenge. I hope that doesn't sound a too pedanticâ€Â¦ Apart from that, the picture itself is really good – love the expression on mums faceâ€Â¦
