A River Flood As Seen From A Passing Train Windowby EssAreDubyaComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
Something about this image grabs my attention. It has a spooky feel to it and I think the contrast works for this image. You probably would have done better with a wider angle of view. I see you used a 17-85 zoom. It doesn't appear that you used the wide end of the zoom. People usually look for more coverage in a landscape. That said, it is quite impressive especially as it was done from the window of a moving train. |

Wonder Fieldby denlinkbarmannComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
I like your composition, though it appears to me as though the horizon could use some straightening. At first sight it seems like and overcast day but the clouds seem to say otherwise. You probably should have exposed for the trees to get more detail, I don't think that would have blown the grass in the foreground, and the sky would still have been fine. |

Rainbow Rocketby cogeroxComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
What can I say, this is a beautiful landscape. The rainbow in the clouds on one side provides a wonderful contrast to the blue sky on the other. If one was to nit-pick, I would say that since it was an expert-editing challenge you could take out the bit of foliage in the foreground to the left of the frame. |

My Boy and His Cowlickby dahvedComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
First off, I would like to say that your composition is unusual and interesting. I think a smaller aperture (maybe f/2.8) would have increased the depth-of-field and helped to bring more of his crown into focus. High contrast images usually work better for black and white. That said, try using the channel mixer as opposed to straight de-saturation for more flexibility in conversion.
Happy Shooting! |

I think the choice of monochrome is a good one as it helps to draw attention to the shapes that make up the image. In addition to what has been said before, probably more light would have helped to 'open' up the image some more. |
