Hi. I thought I would mention that I liked the picture for the odd effect that makes the reflected building look a lot like a stonework castle. If this were for the "from the ground up" challenge, you might consider bringing the angle down a little more. That is probably pretty difficult with this particular composition with reflected elements.

Interesting picture. If you would like help with understanding challenge definitions, first choose the challenge and then check the forums for a thread in Current Challenge. There's usually a thread that talks about it.

Likewise, you can also use some of the internet websites that have translation, use google and check babelfish.

OK. trying to figure out your motive here. You are shooting for the Brown? What a strange thing to do. Would you like to shoot better pictures? There are plenty of people here who are willing to help you.

Better pictures are pictures that are generally defined as being more appealing to the average person.

Even very artsy pictures need some manner of appeal. See Ennil's portfolio if you want to see a photographer who takes pictures that may not be appealing to everyone but certainly do have strong appeal to those that like them.

If you would like some help, I'd be happy to give some of my time to help you get some of the basics if you like. I'm not really very good, but I am patient.

Certainly creates a question in the viewer's mind. Has Dracula gone off the blood thing?

Wow. Another disappointment. While there are a few technical elements in this picture that didn't work out perfectly (crop, noise or resizing issues in the fur, oversharp background and while it didn't bother me, the fact that the dog's face isn't facing the camera), I felt that it was good enough to be complemented by the overall effect of this pic to merit a vote of 8 from me. To see it so close to my beverages entry is too bad.

If you have a chance, I'd love to see this pic after you crop the original down to either a square or a portrait layout, removing the collar and the paw completely. You might consider playing with contrast and brightness as well. It could definitely stand to be a little brighter.

Here's an idea.

Wow. This is tragic. This is a really cool shot with great movement and stop action. Complex pic with a lot going on.

I thought it was great and gave it a 9.

When I first saw this pic, I thought it was baby food. Now I have looked closer, I can see that they are indeed Sobe's.

I didn't give a ten because of the baby food. Sorry about that. Perhaps if that had somehow been a little clearer - probably impossible - it would have been easier to give that 10.

I felt it deserved a high mark because the technical aspects of this pic were very good, particularly lighting, composition and focus. It must have been quite a trick to get the lighting so even.

I get a kick out of the title. Sobe's have a little - often brainless - blurb on the inside of their lids that attempt to exude a little attitude. Some of them are pretty funny. A lot of them are pretty weak. I don't know if they still do this, I haven't had a Sobe in two years. The title is a great example of the kind of short phrase that is on the underside of the lid.

Hi Shannon. I just thought I'd let you know what kind of effect this had on other people. I showed a few people the DPC website because I wanted their opinions on my Beverages Challenge photo (stupid me, I gathered opinions for the challenge AFTER choosing one to submit).

A couple of times, I showed the picture when several of my students were around. There all got very excited to see the homepage and of all the pictures on the page at the time (that was when we had Joey's two blues up with the 48 hr member challenge), guess which one had all the kids pointing and laughing.

It was the only picture that got repeated requests to view and review. Every time I showed the pictures of DPC that week, everyone requested seeing this picture first.

Great job. Maybe if you had used a blue checkered tablecloth you would have gotten a blue ribbon.

This is one of the best fire pictures I've ever seen for exposure. Absolutely amazing.

I'm disappointed that there isn't more of the fire. I would have loved to see the top of the fire in this pic.

I seem to recall that performers a long time ago used to use alcohol like brandy or vodka for this trick. Couldn't find any mention of that in current use and no references to historical use. I guess the connection is still there in rumor tho.

I almost gave this a ten, but the drink box drew away from the picture for me because it says appel... I got confused by this and then felt that the juice box was distracting.

A tall glass not quite full with OJ or nothing would have worked better IMHO.

Regardless, this pic is about the boy and the oranges. Very nice. His eyes look great!

Ouch. I happened to be around for the turnover, had fifteen minutes and a hundred pics not voted on. Tried to get some votes in in the last few minutes.

This pic was the last one I voted on. I gave a comment and a 10. Didn't make it in the vote. Sorry.

I really liked this picture for a couple of reasons. Mood and Colour.

The colour is excellent. It definitely looks to me like you have used coloured paper with some wrinkles in it. I would say it's pretty likely that someone has been learning from our recent spate of colour and contrast challenges. The colour to me is strong enough to provide context for the lighting, which is very good for this shot.

Those two elements plus the wrinkles in the paper give the pic a mood. I felt it looked like a cocktail brewed up in some Mexican bar, with a somewhat patchy wall behind. I don't know if these were your intents, but that's what hit me when I first saw this pic.

My cousin grew up in Costa Rica and he told me of a bar down there that had this drink (an 8-layered tall glass affair) that if you could drink it in less than 5 minutes and walk a straight line out the door, the bar would pick up your entire tab. There's something special about those Tico drinks.

Nice job.
