The old ladies homeby AzrifelComment: Good choice of subjects but I think we needed to see either more or less of the building they're on. As it is we can see this is a doorway but we know nothing about what the building is. A closer zoom could have showed us more detail on the ladies themselves. |

Portrait of an Old Violinby paganiniComment: Wooo - this is lovely. Lovely texture and lighting. I like the close crop. I think the only thing I'd change is that I would have tilted the violin slightly more to the right so that the strings were vertical. Right now it's neither angled nor straight. Even so - that's a nit pick. Lovely photo. Very well done. |

Grandma's lamp, 1918by Frank BeckmanComment: Very conventional placement and lighting. Good clear shot and very solid bkac background. Could have been made more interesting by placing a light off to one side and choosing a closer angle. Better to capture the detail on the lamp base than to get everything in. The shade isnt all that interesting so perhaps frame things so we can see it's there but dont show us much of it - focus more on the base detail. |

Coney Island Lightsby heartsdivideComment: I like this - it's a nice contrast shot showing the bright lights next to this old building. I like that you kept the streetlamp in to frame it but it meant that your old building has been sidelined just a little too much in my opinion. There's not a lot of light on it so it needed to fill more of the frame I think. |

Violinby cq107Comment: Strange yellow tint to it. Did you push the colour up a LOT? Love the shot though. |

Dirty.by lennierComment: This picture teases you with words you can't quite make into a sentance. Nice framing and a good subject. A little low intensity fill-in flash might have captured some of the shadow details. |

RusticMeby focusComment: Wow - talk about a striking image. That yellow tint has to be intentional - it's very strong indeed. The focus seems just a little off - was this a very close-in crop of a larger photo? |
