Floral Tributeby MarstonComment: The flowers are pretty, but it seems the colors are super-saturated which makes them look a little unnatural. The composition is good. I wish the DOF were a little more shallow so the background washed into soft colors. |

A rose for Roseby MikeOComment: I like the diffuse look to this shot (a diffusion filter?) and the lighting. The composition feels a little off balance to me though. I think the colors are ok and the focus looks fine too. |

Flower Burstby RgarciaComment: Good focus to bring out the details in the petals. The stalk on the left side is a little distracting to me since it competes with the primary subject for attention. The soft lighting works quite well for this subject. |

BLASTOFF!by dabidejpnComment: Pretty display of flowers, though the blown out highlights detract from the beauty for me. The composition is nice, and the background is ok. I wish the lighting wasn't so harsh because the dark shadows and bright highlights remove a good amount of interesting details from the subject. |

Shedding Some Light on the Subjectby RogMJ007Comment: I like the idea of a subject lit and leaving the background totally dark. The shadows here make the shot seem a little busy. The DOF also seems to be really shallow, so only some of the petals are in focus. I would actually prefer this type of shot to have deeper DOF so the whole flower is in focus since blurring the background makes no difference because it is black. |

Pahlaenopsisby sabrizzComment: Very interesting selection of flower for this contest. I think it has great potential because of all the interesting details. The lighting for this shot is a little too harsh for my liking. I think that getting rid of all the shadows and moving in closer to capture the detail of just a few flowers would give more impact. |

Simpleby TiNComment: The choice of focus and DOF in this shot makes the closest and out-of-focus flower rather distracting to me. I would actually prefer the close flower to be in focus, then let the background wash out into a soft backdrop. The good even lighting works well for this type of subject though. |

Monet\'s Gardenby carinaComment: I think the idea for this is great, but some impact and detail is lost because of it's smaller size. It looks like the lighting is ok and not too harsh. The colors up close are good, but get a little washed out in the background. The DOF is good if the intention was to keep everything in focus. One thing that I think would help this shot a lot is an obvious primary subject to act as a focal point. |

Three Callasby KenComment: I really like the lighting and composition of this shot. The colors look great against the black background. Focus looks good as well. |
