DSC_2333a.jpgby carisakD70Comment: Hope you don't mind me picking on this a bit, but you did ask for advice.
First I picked this images because I think the lighting is very well done. Nice catch lights in her eyes. The hairlight is not overpowering. There is a decent depth to the shadows.
I do think there are a couple of things you could do to help with the pose:
- the right arm reaching back widens her where she does not need to be wider.
- the top of her right arm being so far forward hides her neck and the top of her chest. A little more open here would have added depth to the image.
- i believe her left arm was up and positioned behind her head. Her arm showing in front of her neck widens her again and leaves we wondering what happened to her arm.
These aren't major problem, but once you reach this level the details really start to count. |

You are absolutely right and I didn't even notice the error until I had posted the image up here. I should have caught that during the shoot. |

CRW_0370by NusbaumComment: Originally posted by Jutilda: Lovely skin tones again. This would be beautiful with a totally black background, but then you'd lose the natural light that you get outdoors. I wonder if the plants weren't there, if it would have a bit more elegant simplicity. Her bare feet go with the casualness of the cedar bench. Nice work. |
I can probably burn those hostas down a bit so they are not so obvious. The boundaries are either very dark or very light, so a little curves and a mask would probably be pretty easy... will try here in a few minutes. |

Autumn Sunsetby RiderGalComment: I think the biggest challenge here is that you have wonderful warm light in the sky and cooler daylight balanced light (flash?) illuminating your subjects. I think a gel to warm the light from the left of the frame would have helped. |

sweet secretby SeanachaiComment: The thumbnail just doesn't do this image justice. I passed by several times thining this was a typical mom and baby shot, but it's much better than typical.
+ Wonderful matching expressions from mom and baby.
+ Outstanding use of depth of field to bring the focus in to eyes, nose, and lips... the element that seem to match between your subjects.
+ Magnificent tones from your B&W conversion.

n i g h t f a l lby tateComment: This looks very similar to some bridges around the twin cities in Minnesota. I could never figure out a way to capture an image that would provide the feeling of height and length, but you certainly did. This is very well done.. nice strong lines going across the bridge and great balance between the existing light and the street lights. |

The Fightby funnylooksComment: Ok... I have to comment and vote because this is giving the creeps every time it pops up in my list of images to vote on. Well composed with a strong sense of drama. I wish the edges of the container where not so visable in the background. You'll have to let me know who won? |
