This is a stunning image. The only reason I didn't score it higher is because it looks over-processed. It looks like there was so much USM used that white edges appeared around the mills, giving them a more ghostly effect. The effect in itself is cool, but the overall image gives the impression of animation, which, I feel, detracts in this case. (7)

Thanks for the comments during the challenge. There were so many entries, it was nice to get any feedback at all.

In response to the preference that the full door was visible - I agree, however, if I were to do that it would have exposed a lot of scratches and scuffs on the door frame that I found distracting.

Interesting idea. I wish the holes were bigger since the focal point tends to be the blackness more than the holes. Maybe less holes, but bigger.

Man does this ever look old! Interesting Idea, but the lens looks dirty (there's a spot near the top-right corner). I also find the chair in front distracting because it is reflecting more of the flash than any other part of the picture.

I tried and tried, but I honestly can't tell what this is. If I can't tell what it is, then I can't tell what it is a part of, and that makes it difficult to rate very high.

I don't get the smoke on the board... I find it distracting. Am I missing something? Without it, one would get a much better view of the pawns, and in doing so, improve the overall composition.
