I would agree with your commenter you certainly have these alligators well sussed. Obviously everything is over-saturated but is that purple really the natural hue this may help explain why it didn’t score higher it leaves it looking somewhat unnatural. Your composition is good with the ‘gator emerging from the right with looking space to the left it works well. |

I get to comment on it twice!! Everything from previous still applies and whilst I wouldn̢۪t recommend this sort of post processing it is necessary for the challenge and to an extent it does actually enhance it. The sharpening is particularly effective on the seas. What does let it down is the halo around the lighthouse it is rather too obvious and intrusive. Well done for the high score and placement. |

A very appropriate choice for the challenge it is certainly very colourful. Your composition is good too, the red dinosaur is particularly dominant but not too overpowering leaving room for the blue dinosaur too. What I think lets it down is your selections for the saturation, it is obvious in the paler portions of the sky in the more intricate areas that were not included in your original selection. Overall a good and appropriate image for the challenge, well done. |

An appealing image that meets the challenge
Welcome to DPC Yao. I like your thinking behind the image but I don̢۪t think it quite works as well as you would have hoped. The main thing that lets it down for this specific challenge is that there is far more soft focus than sharp focus. This would not have mattered if you had really concentrated on the sharper aspects by over saturating and over sharpening them they would have really stood out strongly against the rest of the image. Alternatively perhaps a closer crop of the sharp flower may have worked better? |

An appealing image that meets the challenge well
Congratulations Luana, a great result for a great image. I love what you have done here it works so well. It just goes to prove how powerful the simple concept can be. The plain colours and your placement is perfect. I think a judicious crop of the right edge would improve it, leaving it to just the two colours and removing the odd half a bricked windows and gutter pipe, this would make it an even stronger image. Well done Luana |

An interesting image that meets the challenge
Welcome to DPC Srikanth, I can understand why you have chosen this subject for this challenge. It is very colourful and interesting and lends itself easily to over-saturation so a very appropriate choice. What lets it down is the exposure, you have significant areas over over-exposure with completely blow highlights that are to the detriment of the end result. I think the composition could also be improved this feels too cluttered and rushed, perhaps a lower viewpoint with more emphasis on the foreground. Good luck with your future entries |

An appealing image that fully meets the challenge
Congratulations Susan, a great score and placing for a great image, thoroughly deserved. The implied lines are abundant in the lines of the trees themselves and in their shadows so suitably contrasted against the white snowy ground. This is a very strong composition that makes full use of the implied lines perspective. It all works in a strong effective way, I wouldn̢۪t change a thing, well done. |

An interesting image that does not meet the challenge
I think I can see what your intentions were here Marcel but for me it does not work. I can see that there is some potential for implied lines but you are so close that those stalks visible dominate in a jumbled way that does not suggest the sort of uniformity that would reveal implied lines. I can also understand why you have placed the cob the way you have but it also dominates in a way that takes away from any implied lines. I think a further higher view would have revealed the lines of plantation that would have more readily lent themselves to an implied line illusion. |

Troubled Waters...by DrakeComment: Hello from the critique club
An appealing image that meets the challenge
I definitely wouldn't want to be on those seas! A great shot Drake, excellent timing you can feel the fury of the wind and tide smashing onto the shore and anything in its path. There is good detail throughout. I am actually amazed at how pristine these buildings appear given the constant battering they must receive. It feels as though the lighthouse has a tilt to the right, although your horizon appears to be level, I hope that wave is the one that broke its back! |

On Golden Lightby PhocalComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that contributes well to the open challenge
A great image Ronnie. Nice composition placing the bird in the most appropriate position. What makes the image is the lovely dawn rim lighting from the sunset. This is not the easiest of exposures but you have managed well to control the potential underexposure resulting from the backlighting, there is good detail in the birds face and feathers. You have nailed good focus where it should be on the bird̢۪s eyes. These lovely birds are quite rare over here in the UK, to see one at all is an event in itself but together with this lovely lighting is most unique, well done. |
