You̢۪ve managed to make an ordinary leaf take on a new dimension with this macro view of the structure and colours of the leaf. The blemishes take on a whole different look and feel and the whole lets your imagination turn it into other things. It̢۪s lovely to see both the delicate detail of the cellular and the strength in the supporting vein like structure, lovely Susan. |

Lovely capture Ronnie, justifiably well rewarded. I like the pose with the bird proudly displaying his hard won meal, I particularly like the two small pots of colour that are his eyes. I can imagine in the right light his plumage looks resplendent, there is a hint of it even here. The composition is good, in fact I don̢۪t really need to talk about technicalities do I, because you̢۪ve always got it well nailed. I would say its just about as ordinary as your excellent work could be, well done. |

The clock on platform 3by docjonnyComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting challenge that meets the challenge
Quite a challenge this, to make something interesting from the everyday mundane that we take for granted, I think you̢۪ve done well here though I do think it could be improved upon. Given the image here I like the graphic qualities of the clock face against the equally graphic roof. Because of this I don̢۪t think the left of the shot contributes anything at all in fact I would say it detracts. A portrait orientated crop with the clock in the bottom left corner would, I think, work much better? |

Quiet Contemplation At The Capitolby LustreComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that contributes well to the open challenge
You’ve captured a quiet reflective moment here Mark, we’re observing the girl observing the scene and the water creates a tranquil effect to the whole. I think the obelisk adds to the scene but I’m not so sure about the rest of the right it doesn’t really do a lot to add to the scene. I think a square crop would work much better here, excluding everything on the right including the lamppostâ€Â¦? |

You’re right Joanna, those boots really do catch the eye, they draw you into the image, unfortunately so does the yellow bottle which I find distracts e from the them of the image. A lot can be conveyed in good choice of a title which I think you done here, but given the bucket he’s sat on a possible alternative may have been ‘all clear!’. I suggest that because it looks as though he’s having an urgent moment on the toilet and his mate is keeping a lookout for himâ€Â¦!?! |

It looks like an interesting location you have here Marcel, thanks for the write up. The chimney in the background and the shape of the bridge add interest to the scene. I think a little judicial cropping of the arch on the left would have improved it I find the lower left quite distracting. A crop removing the lamppost is what I would suggest. |

Three things remain with us from paradise: stars, flowers and children. - Dante Alighieriby SrikanthgummaComment: Hello from the critique club

A lovely portrait Srikanth. This is an image the proud parents will be able to treasure for years to come. You̢۪ve done a good job technically, the DOF is good with the face nice and clearly in focus with softer focus in the limbs and background. The sympathetic lighting is also good, much better, as you say, without harsh flash which would have ruined it. I̢۪m not really sure about the petals and its always better to be able to see the open eyes and expressive faces of children but for a sleeping child you̢۪ve done a good job, well done. |

A great action shot Vijay. I know good panning shots are not easy and require plenty of patience to get the result you are after. The overhead viewpoint is good though I find the foreground barrier a distraction. I have to agree with your commenter about the high shutter speed, it is just to sharp all over there really needs to be some motion in the wheels the tyre tread is too well defined. As it is it could easily be imagined that he is about to fall of a stationary machine. |

A great action shot Ronnie. The phenomenally fast shutter speed makes for a pin sharp capture which is great per se personally I prefer a slower shutter speed to convert a feeling of motion. The composition is good allowing space for the receding smoke trails. I have to disagree heartily with your commenters regarding colour v mono, I think the mono processing makes for a much more graphical and pleasing image but once again that is my own personal preference |

Welcome back Skip! And what a comebackâ€Â¦ The composition and timing is a delight. Too often the temptation is to go in close on the action and concentrate on that whereas the bigger picture can often have more appeal and impact. The quality of the light too is the essence of your lovely image, it highlights the undulations in the land together with those lovely shadows it works very well. Congratulations for your high score and placing, I hope we will be seeing more of your work againâ€Â¦? |
