Out of the whole bunch, this one was hands down my favorite. I have to know: was that striking portrait silhouette captured as a natural reflection in a window, or is it an edited double-exposure overlay? Either way, the result is fantastic.

The Mountain Mall

I love this image because of what it does to me at a base level. The moment I laid eyes on it, I was hooked and wanted to know everything. Where on earth is this? What is actually going on here? Wait, let me look closer... oh, the buses are the market. A mobile mountain mall built out of vintage buses in the middle of nowhere? Brilliant. How did this glorious thing even come to be? It is a deeply thought-inspiring image, and honestly, that curiosity-factor trumps everything else for me.

Sunflowers & Peaches

I love the topic of this image. The gorgeous flowers and that vibrant purple backdrop are wonderful. However, as a matter of personal preference, something about the people in the foreground just throws me off. I know it wasn't a staged shot, but there are competing focal points because the figures are so close to the camera and wearing such high-contrast clothing like that bright orange top and striped shirt. My eye gets snagged on them immediately instead of flowing naturally to the stunning vendor and the sea of sunflowers.

To make an image like this better, I think it comes down to timing. In candid photography, patience is everything. Waiting a few seconds for the shoppers to move along would have left the frame completely open to the vendor, the purple backdrop, and that vibrant display of sunflowers unobstructed.

Treasure hunting

I have always loved images like this. I find my eye popping back and forth between the reflection and the items behind the glass. Capturing such clear layers and crisp reflections during the day is something I always find hard to do, making the execution here that much more impressive. Great execution all around!

The Off Season

Fantastic eye and execution here. The color grading gives it incredible vintage atmosphere, and the vignetting draws your gaze right down that polished, reflective walkway toward the Sale Barn. Truly a wonderful shot from start to finish.

I
