This is a charming old home. My suggestions for improvement would be to try to get a wider angle, and take the photo early in the AM or late in the day so the sky won't be blown out. and the house won't be so dark. There's only so much we can do in basic editing, but I think those 2 things might have helped. :)

Your choice of black and white was wise -- it helps lessen the distraction of the background. The dog is beautiful, there's light in his eyes, and he's nicely in focus. I can't figure out why you used selective desaturation here. It draws attention to the dog's toy rather than the main subject, the beautiful dog. I'm tired tonight, so hope this isn't coming across harshly -- I hope it is helpful feedback. :)
