Wow, did people miss this or what? The clouds frame Ferdowsi in a kind of whole-body halo, and his legs frame the child. Aside from the photo meeting the challenge (which counts for a bit too much here at times), it is well composed, dynamic, and technically spot-on. The view from below helps to emphasize the strength and impact of the subject. The choice of color here is fine, but I do think that black & white would have worked quite well.

Basically, this is a good indication that the majority of voters are moving much to quickly. The discerning few who take the time, see an out of the box shot that deserved to place near the top, not dead at the bottom. Good luck in the future challenges.

Well, gone in the traditional sense, but you get an automatic art maker in return. This looks like it will be lots of fun to play with...oh, and I'm sorry for your loss. Anyway, this is an interesting shot, that is almost like a spooky landscape if rotated 90 degrees. I'm sure the color is from your dead/dying sensor, but it works to aid the overall weirdness. No pun here, but good eye. Composition is nice, and a wise move keeping this in color...B&W would have surely killed the impact. Well, good luck to you...this has the stink of a high score all over it.

Country Rose

I'd like to see the church oriented in such a way that it doesn't fall directly behind the rose. Also, the other rose poking its head into the frame is slightly distracting as is...fully in or fully out could be more effective. If you reshoot this, stepping just a tad to the left, the church and the other rose will both be in the shot, but in a different way that might be nice. Good luck this week and in the future.

Nice warm tone to your duotone. The crop is interesting to me (how the knuckles on the left hand were cut off) but it works well. The sharpness is just right, being detailed without being harsh. Good work and good luck.

This is an interesting shot, but it is missing something that I just can't put my finger on...maybe it's the relative size of the subject, but I do understand that you need to show some of the cactus to give context. I think that a different crop could have served this photo better than the one shown here. Good luck this week...

I get the feeling that this shot is overprocessed...it looks a bit harsh in the sharpness, and some of the colors seem to be glowing. Aside from that, I like the composition, the crop, and the lighting. Good luck in the challenge.
