Man's Imposed Authority over Womenby ijerryComment: The angle and point of view certainly capture the feeling of the cowering woman. As a woman, I am uncomfortable staring down at the woman. I am sure that was intended. Since you are using it as a key element, I want to see the belt image tight and crisp. The woman should be even more out of focus because her abuser doesn't empathize with her pain. Since you are putting me in the position of abuser by your choice of point of view, I should see the woman as nonhuman as her abuser would. Daring photo. I appreciate your courage and your willingness to take a risk. |

THE ULTIMATE AUTHORITYby sabphotoComment: I like this idea. The open space at the bottom of the photo is distracitng. I would like to see you pull in tighter, and swing around more to full front, not square on full but to give the image a more solid feel. I think you should either square it up a bit, or completely come in from the side with the words MY AUTHORITY filling the frame and every other word softly and fading away. |

"Incarceration Station"by ISivicComment: Nice use of color, but perhaps it is a bit too pleasant for your subject matter. The contrast of the lines of the building and the spokes and spines of the shrubbery, is striking. Interesting framing, angle, and point of view. |

White man's burden or tyrant's charm ...by markmulkerinComment: I am not sure here what White man's burden means. Nice use of space and line. The photo does make me want to take a step back and get out of the way. The artist's choice of angle and point of view works very well. Sorry I don't get the White man's burden part. It is probably obvious. Is it that we must bear the burden of all the killing that has been done by white men? Let me know if you get a chance. Nonetheless, the photo carries a certain energy and intensity that certainly works very well for this challenge. |

Doctor’s Orders…by basia03Comment: Great angle, nice job by revealing a hint of that bandaged foot. Those collars, although essential to healing, seem horrific to me. What those poor dogs must think when one of them is slapped on. Nice job with a photo that nails the challenge. |

"He's always watching"by jmassungComment: Ah, the reflection of the light and your title allow me to ponder the flipside of Santa. That threatening list... Nice use of golds and yellows to create a Christmassy feel. Great framing and use of light. Captivating, thought-provoking image. Nicely done. I feel a creative mind with a bit of an edge at work here. I have to admit, I like it. |

My 4th-Grade Authority: Sister Mary Not-Amusedby sibelingComment: Gotta love a sense of humor, and oh, that threatening ruler, blurred in movement. I am not sure of the map image, maybe it is to give a feel of the classroom or to help us set this in the United States. I love the angle, the point of view, and that hilarious expression on the nuns face. As a troublemaker, I have been on the receiving end of that expression many, many times. You absolutely nailed this challenge. I feel like I am a little kid again...in trouble again. Masterful. |

Authority of the Privilegedby JEFFJSBComment: The framing of this photo truly make me feel as if I have walked up to this beach and been stopped cold in my tracks. The harsh light on the sign emphasizes its harsh message. The like the use of space and the only shadow I can really see being the shadow of the sign, hiniting at what lies behind it perhaps? The fact that the sign is slightly angles away, whether intentional by the artist or not, makes me almost feel as though I have to look around it to read it better. This photo works well for me. |
