On the Beachby KarenNfldComment: Is that really your beach? That sand is incredible! I want some of it.
Nice, sharp focus and great exposure. Lots of texture. |

Where the Sea Beginsby CutterComment: Wow! I gave this a 9. I like it even more now that I know it was taken by a fellow Floridian. Definitely deserved the top 10! |

Rain Collecting on Glassby ElaineComment: Hey, don't feel bad about this. It's taken me forever to figure out what makes a high scoring image. The worst part is that, now I know what they look like, but I keep submitting bad shots anyway.
Some things that are important are composition, focus, lighting, depth and interest of subject matter. You might study the challenge winners and see if you can figure out what makes them stand out.
You have a good camera, but you may want to work with the settings. This image has a lot of noise, which can be minimized by working with ISO and shutter speed. |

No butts about itby fotomann_foreverComment: Very effective. Just looking at this shot makes my nose start to run! Awesome detail and good composition. Was the resolution to quit smoking or to fill up ashtrays? Hopefully you were able to quit:) |

Harbor Sunriseby Bear_MusicComment: I didn't get very involved in the low-key thing, because things so subtle elude me. Compositionally, it's very balanced. It's a little busy on the left side, but the negative space on the right balances it out. Definitely complex.
What never ceases to amaze me about your images is how you seem to nail the colors every time. You've managed to use knock-out colors, yet maintain the serenity of the scene; all while maintaining crisp, sharp lines. I think it's gorgeous. You should have a line of postcards! |
