Yeah, the centered horizon probably hurt you. Still, I think it deserved much better than a 4.8! There are lots of nice complementary colors and it wouldn't take much to really make this one pop.

Good one. I'm torn about the lighting. The hot spot on the hand is interesting and dramatic, but it does draw my eye away from your face. It might have been even nicer if the hat was lit like your hand, instead. Great pose and expression.

The clouds really make this shot. They give the sense of movement, as though the viewer is zooming into the frame. Very crisp and noiseless for such a long exposure.

Nice contrast and cool reflection. I think it's a great concept and you almost nailed it. The ice cube looks a little muddy and yellowish. The fire is interesting and colorful, but I find myself wishing at least some of it were in focus. Those are the reasons that the subjects don't hold my attention for very long.

The large amount of negative space doesn't do much for me either. A horizontal crop might have been better suited to this setup; with the ice cube on the intersection of thirds and the fire along the lower third line.

I'm envious of your granite. It's sure to provide you with many great opportunities for reflection shots. Don't be discouraged. My photos never score as high as I expect them to, either:)
