Like the colors. I wonder if the composition might be improved if the tree weren't centered. Also, more detail might have helped it for me. It's pretty dark.

Everytime I think I've come up with a unique subject, someone else does it (and usually much better, as in this case). I have one of these in dark wood, and it's one of my favorite things. My first try didn't come out well and then I went out of town. Glad I didn't submit my image; this would have put it to shame. I like the black background and the composition. PS, trying to remember what these are called. If you know, please tell me.

I love everything about this image. The juxtaposition of punker and innocent child is compelling. B/W was a good color choice, though I imagine that hair was pretty bright. Reminds me of my best friend and her daughter in their younger days. Nice light, DOF, composition...everything.

Not really a beetle, but a true bug (assasin bug); and a really cool one, at that. Great eye for spotting and capturing such a good shot of it! Never seen one with those markings. Think I'll put him in my favorites.
