One of my favorites here. Needs an accent to stand out more then just the bridge. But thats just my thought. (9)

This was my first entry a the DPChallange, so I read the requirements of Advance Editing and the description of the theme (...take a photo that has a silhouette as part of your composition) My original shot is below.

I underexposed it to pull out more of the silhouette of the dogs muzzle, chest and front leg, then corrected the contrast, added a little bit texture and cropped it. Did I change it a lot? I chose this shot because I liked the composition created by the dog's body and its shadow. I like the paint texture I created. In my opinion it gives softer and more artistic sensation. I was pretty disappointed at the beginning with the low score, but after reading some discussions on the forums I realized that my definition of photography was much broader then generally accepted on DPChallenge. I understand that some people don't like dogs or effects applied, but discussion about integrity of the photograph is valid only if one can see the original picture, otherwise it is only gossip. My judgment of a photograph, at first is based on the emotions I feel are being portrayed, then I analyze the composition, color and technical characteristics of the work. Additionally, if it is a contest on a particular topic, like on the DPChallenge, it is important to adhere to the subject.
So far I have enjoyed the site a lot. Thank you for taking your time to read this and for all your comments. I hope to learn a lot here.
Cheers,
Art
