Title refers to the fact that glass is made out of sand and pearls are built usually around a piece of sand.

Photo was taken near Porvoo where one of the most famous Finnish painters, Albert Edelfelt, painted part of his paintings... nothing like copying the masters :)

I think the nice summer clouds together with the greenish of the water (coming from algae) make the picture.
