Wherever I May Roamby mtppComment: remarkable detail and contrast in the boots. Is the washed out upper BG intentional? It's not bad, I sort of like it, but I bet some voters will use it as an excuse to dock you. Well done image, even after 100's of other pics of shoes. |

Odor-Eaters???by NaldComment: Refreshingly creative. A tad dark in the detail on the shoes, but nicely set off by the bright laserlight. |

Disembodiedby typologicComment: Very cool effect, very nice photo. I'd have cropped closer to the shoes on the bottom, which still would have left lots of whitespace at top and between the legs. Very minor nit, as I said, great photo! |

Faithful Servantsby mthrgse49Comment: Ah, this picture could have been so much more. It looks like some inherent blur as well as possible compression or sharpening artifacts. All detract from the wonderful texture and feel of these old boots. You'll also get slammed because you sized it too small, but that wouldn't be as much of a problem if the photo was crisper and better processed. |

Little Pioneerby paul58Comment: Very nice kid portrait. I'd probably have cropped a little closer, ikeeping the boots (since that's the hook to the challenge) but losing a little of the hat, which is a little blurred anyway. This would have given you a tighter focus on his face, which is adorable. |

The Eclecticby annahComment: I like this photo a lot. The implied movement, the bright colors, etc. Very nicely done. You don't see pants like this everyday! |

Beige Designby indy79Comment: Nice simple arrangement. I think you should have illuminated the shoe a little better - it's tough to see the detail that is there. The backlit sheet looks a little messy too, which detracts from the simplistic feel your photo projects. |

The Beauty of Motionby bobdaveantComment: I was all set to say the blur was too much, but the more I looked at it, the more it grew on me. It's actually quite a beautiful artistic shot. There's enough of the ball-carrier's face visible to give it some personality and emotional impact. The colors are nicely saturated. All in all, a top-notch image! |

Sketchers Sportby ChinabunComment: I like this shot. First of all, I'm a fan of flat black backgrounds. Secondly, the tight crop on the shoes makes for a interesting composition. The nit I will pick with you is the overexposed highlights of the shoes. Shooting white on a black background is a minefield of exposure problems and you have been bitten by blown highlights here, expecially in the right shoe. Since it's a basic editing challenge, you have do take care when shooting that you underexpose by a stop, or better, shoot several shots at, above, and under what you believe to be the ideal exposure. Then you are sure to have a workable shot at the editing phase. Love your skin tones, and detail on the legs. Some will object that your image is too soft, but I like the focus and feel it's very good overall. Nice entry. |
