Not *for* what they are, *despite* what they are. My Dads, *MY* Heroes.by ArtysteComment: I think "My two dads" would have been more than enough explanation. I love the concept and emotional impact of this photo. Having said that, the execution is technically inadequate. The lighting was not up to the task. I'm bumping the score though just because the message, for me, is truly heroic. Bravo to you for making such a necessary statement with your entry to this challenge! |

More Than Wordsby ellamayComment: A wonderful and expressive portrait. Without any idea who he is or what his story is, the rugged looks, the pensive expression, the hunched posture... they all speak of emotion and drama. I like this shot a lot and would love to know who he is and why he represents a hero. I would have suggested a slightly tighter crop. Nice shot. |

Fearless Freddyby plumber711Comment: This comes across largely as a snapshot without any really definable "hero" element. Freddy is a cute dog though. |

Zorro was a Womanby WinterbergComment: Extremely well done. My eyes were naturally drawn to the principle subjects (eyes and lips) as well as the red band of the hat. The more I look at this photo, the more it appeals to me. |

Today's Heroby magicshutterComment: A very emotionally charged composition. The BW elements are relatively low contrast (everything seems a bit too dark). A powerful image nonetheless. |

Papa et moiby LouisonComment: Unbelievable. This pictures captures such a perfect candid moment that it almost seems too good to be true. The expression on both faces is priceless. The implied emotional connection between the subjects is so strong. The slightly high key exposure works beautifully. One of my favorites, even after voting on all 480 bizallion other images.... |
