7/27/2006 Photographer Bob Daveant of North Ridgeville, Ohio, has won First Place for June in the prestigious photography contest sponsored by BetterPhoto.com, the site's founder, Jim Miotke, announced Thursday.

More than 25700 entries were submitted to the online photography contest, which attracted contestants from around the world and featured 10 separate categories.

Daveant's stunning image, "Looking into the Sun", garnered top honors after being submitted in the People category.

The contest is conducted each month. Categories include Nature and Landscapes, Animals, People, Elements of Design, Digital Darkroom, Travel and Place, Flowers, Details and Macro, Special Effects, and Monthly Theme. Judging is performed by a panel of professional photographers.

I was one of your 9 votes, I think its so sad that people cant think out of the box when voting and at least vote also on technical merit, your composition, originality and lighting alone warranted a much higher score than the people that gave you 1's, 2's and 3's. Take solice in knowing that you worked hard on this and came up with a very wonderful photo. Job well done, regardless of your score.
