Life motesby manuraoComment: Great color and wonderfull lines. You did an amazing job capturing the pollen on this shot. At first glance I though it was a motion capture of the pollen flying off of the pistle. A little disapointed it wasn't. Stilll a very nice image that is fun to look at. |

Where God Lost His Marblesby SimonjwComment: Ok this one made me laugh. Thsi image has a strong Ansel feel to it IMO. You have an amazing amount of detail and a DOF that goes on forever leaving the rock in the foreground and the mountains in the distance all in perfect focus. Very good composition in a high contrast image. I do feel however that as for is fitting the challenge it is a little to far outside of the box. For granular I would expect macro photography showing of the fine details of a granular substance. The sand and the marbles are granular but you did not realy capture the granular surface well enough to make it the center of intrest. But due to the fact that it is so well done and that is is close to the challenge topic. I wouldn't feel right giving this less than an 8. Very nice job!! |

Spiralby AlexMontyComment: This would be my favorite of the spirals. I feel that what sets this one apart from the rest is the other spirals in the background. This gives me the feeling that the spirals go on froever and that this is but a close up of one of the many spirals. The image is grisp and has a nice texture. I do feel however thatthere is just a little too much contrast in the lighting. I would have likes for the shadows to be just a bit lighter. 8 |

Sexy Sandby rscorpComment: Very sexy and tastefully done photo. I feel that the variets of textures is what realy adds to the photo. smooth skin, granular sand, woven fabric, super fine hair. So many textures and all of them working well together and all of them in brilliantly crisp focus. Very well done 8 |

The Great Escape by frogletComment: Very nice job of capturing the texture and the motion of the sugar. The sugar wall with the fine sugar flowing throught he breach is an interesting photo. I would not have thought somthing as simple as sugar could be so enjoyable to look at. Very nice job. 7 |

Sand Boarder Face Plantby beamsclanComment: Very crips image with wonderfull details. The skin tone is just breathtaking. The facefull of sand brings back a lot of fond memories for this land locked surfer. You did a great job of capturing not only the girle beauty but the intricate beauty of the sand as well. Very nice image. 8 |

jackhammerby art-ineptComment: As an artist this shots enough to give me the chills. Very crip image with lots of brilliant details on the wood grain. The use of graphite is definately an original concept for this challenge and fits it very well. I feel that your choice to use B&W was a good one it adds alot more impact to the image and draws the viewer to the grains. I feel thet the colors would have been to distracting. Very nice job 8 |

Sandpaper Hieroglyphicsby oOWonderBreadOoComment: I like it Granular hieroglyphs. I have a feeling this is just a realy cool sandpaper and we are all being made to look like fools. This has a very unusual peice. Definatel the only one of its kind in the challengs. Very crisp granuals and a very pleasant lighting. I realy like the authintic egyptian feel that the sand gives the image. Wonderfull job. 8 |

Supanovaby ZemmComment: Greetings from the Critque Club!!!
Initial impact: Now that's a neat idea for an apple.
Color: The colors on the brighter part of the image are very nice. The color is also on the toothpicks. I feel that I might have gone a little more to the side of excess with the title and concept you were going for.
Focus: Very crisp image with a good Depth of Feild(DOF). I could not ask for more is this area.
Lighting: Well her I must admit is probably the rougherst part of the photo. You would wan't a black background behind a super Nova so if you used to much back lighting you were goind to lose the infinate darkness in the background. To little back lighting and your nova fades into the backround. I feel in this case you went a bit to dark on the apple. I think this would have worked better for you if the lighting had come from three directions. Front, rear top, and rear bottom, Thsi would have given the apple a more defined border and some richer colors. Unfortunately you would ahve had to use a rather large black bacround to avoid washing out you blacks.
Concept: Very very cool idea. I like this one it shows greative tyinking and courage to experiment and play.
Overall: Very nice photo I had given this one a six while voting. I honestly feel that with better lighting this could have bean a very strong contender for a ribbon. Excellent shot. I hope this is just the first of many to come.

Sweetnessby ArtanComment: Bright, colorfull, and action packed photo. I do wish that a few more of the upper grains of sugar had been in better focus. But thats a small complaint considering the difficulty of the shot. Interesting choise of back grounds. The blue works well with me and the clouds reay add to the abtract look. very nice job 9 |
