Santa, I Think It's A Little Big

Greetings from the critique club:

At first glance I liked this photo. It has nice bight and vibrant color. The White on the hat against the black back ground was nice.

Does it meet the challenge: I would have to say this is a tough challenge to meet. Humor is a very broad topic. What one person finds funny another might not. I personaly don't find this to be very funny. I do however find it to very cute. I would not however lower my score much do to this. With humor being such a opinion oreiented topic.

Technical aspects: This image is a little soft. I feel it could have been a little crisper an image. I however do realize that with digital camera's most images tend to look a little soft.
Lighting: Pretty good. There are no shadows. I don't feel that any part of it is burnt out very badly. I think a bit more light on the center torso of the kittten might have helped but overall the lighting was good.

Back Ground: I like the black background. I can see no problems with this area of the photo.

Colors: I like the red on the hat. But the rest of the colors are a bit faint. I would like to see some brighter and more defined colors on the kitten. Perhaps this would even give more definition to the rear of the kitten. As is the rear of the cat almost fades into the back ground.

Overall: This is a very good photo. I like the look and feel of the shot. I think that without the few problems I mentioned above it could have been a candiadte for placing pretty high in the challenge and possibly pulled off getting a ribbon. This is a very pretty and imaginative shot. I realy ejoy looking at it keep up the great work.

Greetings from the Critique Club :)

Meeting the challenge: I think this is an excellent theme for the challenge. For time is the final authority.

Lighting: I feel that the lighting hurt this shot pretty badly. It is just to dark. While I see the reason and mood behind the dark and gloomy lighting I feel it was over done. Perhaps a strong light coned down to het smaller towards the top of the clock would have worked realy well. It would given the clock an illusion of being taller. I brighter light also would have brought out more details in the photo.

Composition: I like the way this shot was set up. The clock hands set on midnight. The angle you took this photo from was also excellent. It gave the clock a taller more dominating look. However the overall angle of the shot is a little off. Try rotating the entire photo 1 or 2 degrees to the right.

Technical: Poor lighting. the focus was good from what I can tell. I feel the choosing the center of the clock hands was a good choice for your center of focus.

Artistic opinion: I like this shot from an artistic stand point. Very "message" heavy. Decent balance, and center line. The brighter lighting would likly have given this alot of colors to enjoy.

Overall: this is a shot with a lot of potential. Fix the lighting and this would have been far more interesting a photo. I think your score easily could have been 5.5 or higher with just the better lighting.

keep up the good work

ooh impresive! Is it make-up, photo shop, or a 20yr shutter speed. That is my big question. Creative, meets the challenge, good technical aspect, DoF and such, and I like it. 9

ok this one is quite funny, with the title added in. Decent shot, creative and comical. However not extremely exciting. (but how exciting is watching paint dry?). Meets the challenge, and is creative.

oooooh very pretty rust. meets the challenge, and is interesting, however not exciting. The foreground is out of focus. But It won't hurt my vote much. It is a tough shot to get everything in focus.

hey is there a dog in this picture somewhere I see a nose. I feel this is a "little weak in meeting the challenge. (but it was a tough one to meet). I also feel it is a little over exposed in spots. Overall decent and interesting shot.

Very good photo. I feel it dosn't fit the challenge very well. However I can see your concept on how it could. I feel this is an above average picture by itself. I would like to have seen a few things different however. First a closer match to the challenge. Second a closer crop. The hands are out of focus. I feel the hands for some weird reson make the girl look like a maniquin. I do however feel that if this realy is a maniquin youve got my cudos. Very realistic dummy, or a very maniquin looking girl. No insult intended. However overall a very nice shot.
