Greetings From the Critique Club!!!

Initial Impact: Not very lively

Does it Fit the Challenge: Without a doubt. You not only met it once but twice. That a bit of a treat for us viewers.

Focus: The focus is good in this shot. The birds the water and the posts all seem to be in focus. To be honest I can't even find the point of focus (not that thats a bad thing)

Color: I feel that this is to pretty a shot to have such melow colors. I feel this shot would have done a world better if it were brighter and had more vibrrant colors.

Composition: The composition looks pretty good and works as is. I am however wondering if by cropping a little of the water off the top and bottom would help pop the subject into the spotlight a little better. I also feel a little border could have helped.

Overall: I feel this has the potential to be a spectacular shot. With just a little playing around with the levels and a little cop. I think this was a good shhot the just scored low because to me it looks unfinished. If you do decide to play around with the few sugestions I had I would absolutaly love to see the finished product.

Initial impact: ooh those are nice and different colors.

Does it meet the challege? Perfectly. No questions there. I feel that this was a good choice for the faceless challenge.

Focus: The Focus looks good However after looking closely at the shot, It looks as if you have croped to much or lost some detail while downsizing for the challenge. If you look closely at the shoulders and the top of the rocks it looks blocky.

Colors. While i'm sure the unatural looking colors might have hurt your score a little. I love them. They are not colors that cross my screen often. I personaly enjoy somthing different. It also looks to be slightly oversaturated in the brighter area of the sky causing more of a blocky look to your clouds. This to could also have happened while down sizing.

Contrast: I feel that you managed to nail the contrast dead on the sunset and the silhoutte mix perfectly.

Composition and layout: For the most part I feel that your composition works well. I tend to agree with mpalitang the pose the person is in does not seem to flow well with the rest of the shot. But To be honest I can't realy think of what pose would work better. Looking at the sunset seems to be the only one that makes since... ohh well my mind and eyes don't always agree.

Overall: This is a very nice shot. I would probably have scored it fairly high if I had voted in this challenge. I hope it didn't sound like I wash bashing you shot. But hey you placed 6th and that alone should tell you that this isn't a bad shot. I just felt with such a high score I had to realy look to find what might have caused this to miss it's ribbon. (and I realy had to look to find any flaws).

Keep up the wonderfull work and I hope to see more great shots like this one in challenges to come. Good luck

I saw this and just had to leave a comment.
Man you need to use photo shop. A little bump in saturation and a bit of burning on the halo around the head. And this would be worth selling. Great shot I just feel it needed a little more saturation.

I saw the request in the forums and noticed no one was nice enough to leave you a critique. So I figured I give you a freebee.

Initial Impact: Ohh nice this is different.

Focus: Crystal clear focus evrything seems to be nice and crisp.

Color: I feel that using black and white works well with this paticular shot. I can't say without seeing the color version but I feel that the color version would have had too many colors. Making it too busey to work wit this paticular composition.

Style and technique: I enjoy the use of negative space. I myself very seldom manage to get it to work to my liking. In this case however I think you nailed it.

Overall:

This is not a bad shot I like the use of negative space. However I feelt dissapointed. With a title of shadows copy. I expected to see a shadow. While interesting and well shot. It does not seem to fullfill it's promise. I see the puppets and hands but it does not deliver the action... Well I hope this helps at least a little. I look farward to seeing some more of these cool shots in the future.

wow this was one of my 3 tens.... I'm supprised this scored so low.. On the other hand it brings me great pride to be sitting at exactly the same score as a shot a gave a ten..... I still love the shot...

I feel that this was very well shot. I especialy like the lighting. I do however feel that the image was a little too soft around the face. I decided to score this a little above average. I decided this due to the fact that while technicaly a sound image, and possesing a lovely model, that it lacked a little as far as impact. while this is not a wow photo it is still a very nice image.
