Lampby oksamitComment: The DOF seems to be extremely tight on this. |

Oakdaleby rubyrednailsComment: The image as a whole seems to lack saturation. The sky is blown out as well; unfortunately I can't comment on what to do about that -- the sky in my photos are usually blown out as well. :( |

Eilan Donanby GordonComment: Lovely landscape. The Keep seems a bit flat to me; a bit more contrast (maybe sharpening) on jus the keep would have made its presence more prominent. |

Motown Magnoliaby scrum8Comment: Nice textures over most of the pedals, but there are a few hot spots on the tips. |

Colorby dsrayComment: Colors are vibrant, but the shot seems lacking in composition. |

Gnarledby orussellComment: Wonderful separation of the subject from the background. I would have preferred a DOF just large enough to include the entire subject. |

Look out any windowby soccerdadComment: Originally posted by bill_hk2002: One note: The tree on the right third line is slightly blurred. This is due to wind combined with the long exposure. I couldn't figure out how to get that sharp and still get the light on the inside of the window frame. Hopefully, a little help will come out in the comments. |
Since it was not mentioned in the comments, I will take a shot at it. Since you had the window up, moving a lamp a bit closer would have provided the light the frame needs to really stand out and not look so much like a border. Might have needed to set the exposure to the outside first, then turn the lamp on to keep the outside exposed properly. With some lamps something to drape over it (or bounce the light toward the frame) would be needed to keep the frame from blowing out.
Looking back at this shot makes me wish I was not so busy that week (I missed even looking through it, let alone voting).

Peaceful Parkby David.CComment: Thanks for the comments.
I was running out of time on this, as it had been raining all week. Sure there are a few places in this town that look better wet than dry (rivers look better with water than without ;D ), but all of those were flooded -- way too much rain.
Just before sunset on the final day I thought of trying this park. It is newer than the other and there are many who still do not know it is there. I arrived just as the sun finished sinking below the horizon, and had about 15 minutes to shoot the shots in the after glow of the sunset.
This was not my first choice of the 14 exposures I took (most my card will hold at max resolution), but partway through the shoot I slipped on a wet metal bridge and jarred my camera on the railing. This caused it to reset all settings (including the date and time). Not knowing this at the time, I ended up with a choice between this one and a close-up of one of the geese (seen after they swam away from me in the picture).
By the time I realized this, I had very little time to prepare the image before submitting it. Not that having more time would have helped, I overexposed trying to compensate for the very low light levels. Besides, the only thing worse than my photography skills are my photoshop skills. :P

Knowledgeby David.CComment: First a late thank you to all the commenters.
bill_hk2002: I have degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science, but started out in Electrical Engineering (did not last long before math pulled me in :D ).
BTW: would you have preferred more or fewer books?
