Life Saverby AnnidaComment: Originally posted by ChrisW123: Annida,
The halo is the line around the subject, that kind of seperates it from the background... You can see it as a light color next to the blue parts of the life-preserver, and a darker color near the light colors (of the preserver). Your pic may have been "challenged" because of this (because it could be sign that the subject was cut and pasted onto a background), but can also be due to a lot of other things, like over-use of Unsharp Mask in particular, etc.
I really like the simplicity of the shot. I noticed the "halo" myself, but figured it was due to something other then cheating. |
I think I'm going crazy, cause I just can't see the halo. I"m going all googly eyed staring at this picture! lol |

Life Saverby AnnidaComment: Let me make things a bit clear :) For OneSweetSin and anybody else who was curious. This photo was taken at about 6 am in the pool outside my flat. It was placed in still water, and I took a few pictures. The "halo" effect is the water, I guess. YOu can see a line on the life saver which IS the water, if that's what you mean by halo... ?
Thanks for the comments everybody,
Annida |

Copy of a staplerby AlexysComment: Hello from the Critique Club!
Hi a_berenguer, I hope I find you in good health :)
This is an interesting shot, and definitely fits into the challenge well. I like the green tinge, personally.
I think you may have tried to over sharpen the image, because it seems like the metal is a bit hard to look at. I think I would suggest trying this same picture with a different aperture, something more in the middle range to get better light in.
There is a bit of distraction with the way you placed the picture, and the composition. I think had you stood a bit more to the left, and cut out the top left corner of the copier, it would have worked more harmoniously.
All in all, I think the idea was there, but the execution could have been a tiny bit better :)
Good luck in future challenges,
Annida |

Hand on my heartby KaveyComment: Lovely photo, is that a nipple I see peeking through there?! *gasp horror* .. I also love the inclusion of the ankh in the top of the photograph, I think that adds a lot, mainly because of the meaning of the symbol in ancient egypt. it's nice to see a REAL person shot. beautiful! |
