Hi Wanna Ride?by coovt2001Comment: Originally posted by snaffles: Greetings from the Critique Club! A very nicely seen and caught shot of someone who truly pimps his ride :-) Love the b/w and the pan makes the shot - the rest of the tuktuk is slightly blurry but his face, the important part, is in focus and he does look like he is trying to catch your eye. Now as to why the low placing...the composition is okay but very safe....there are some bleachy areas of white ie the roof of the vehicle...and some people will simply not care for the panning effect. (Same goes for lots of zoomblur effects, anytime the shutter is open longer than usual and the camera is being moved). This candid moment also has a bit of a snapshot feel to it. FS is very difficult to do well in because you can enter pictures of anything, and this pic simply failed to catch the votes.
Hope this critique has been of help, feel free to PM me

The eyes are the mirror of the soul!by coovt2001Comment: Thanks you susan, You feedback is much appreciated.
I agree Potraits need to be extraordinary to do well in Free Study, it was risk worth taken.
Your comment will help me improve more.

A very interesting b/w study of someone with quite a story to tell. The challenge in those eyes just dares you to ask questions, doesn't it? He is slightly off-centre so that adds to the slightly unsettling air he projects. The detail and texture are very well shown and it looks like ambient light, of which I am a huge fan. Settings look spot on to this Nikon user. And traditionally portraits don't do very well in Free Study but here you are within a hair's breadth of the top 10.
Overall a great shot and very well captured. Please continue to shoot and enter and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Congrats on the honorable mention and the new photo in your top 5 list. Nice work leaving no doubt in anyone's mind that this is all about the teeth.
Love the details and sharpness you've captured here. I can almost feel the texture of the fur through the picture. You even captured a bug in front of his/her face! (Although I doubt teeth are needed for that tiny creature. ;) ) I'm not usually fond of black and white for animals ... their colors are just too beautiful to pass up ... but here it adds realism and depth. It also prevents the color from detracting from those beautiful teeth. I can't offer an constructive feedback here ... this is amazing, especially for the challenge.
Please keep the entries coming! Congrats again! |

Live It Up!by coovt2001Comment: Originally posted by ciaeagle: Greetings from the Critique Club!
The challenge entered was a free study so anything goes... challenge met! :) You've brought a sense of drama to the portrait with the black & white approach. The details give the viewer much to look at. I love the smoke tendrils and the way he's only kind of looking toward the camera. (It's almost like there's a message in the smoke.) Eyes are certainly a window and this gentleman indeed looks thoughtful yet relaxed. I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in the way of constructive feedback ... the composition and focus look great. If I had to pick on something ... I think there's a little dust or something in the bottom left corner but that's so minor I hesitate to even type it.
Keep up the great work! |
Thanks you sir, much appreciated, you feedback and comment will help me improve. |

Thanks for the feedback will sure consider your feedback in my future postings |
