Here is my preparation for this shot.

Setup:
Place the crystal ball on a black acrylic sheet. Using LED light partially wrapped with red cellophane paper (low cost). You just need to dance the LED light behind the crystal ball. Any movement will create a different effect.

The camera setting as already shown in DPC exif data.

When I saw my score plunging, I already knew that Chinese "Myth & Legends" are not popular with DPC members.

My feel, is that, DPC members should try to browse through other images which may not make it to the top, but to go through the story behind each image submitted.
