Composition is nice, but the image seems to be grainy, particularly in the sky areas. Try selecting those areas and using a gaussian blur to clean up the noise. A higher contrast would help as well.

I like the clean, unculttered appearance! Low angle of the sun helps also. The boat may be an unnecessary distraction, but does add some interest to the photo.

I really like your bird photo, but there seems to be a loss of detail in the feathers around the neck. Did you use a noise reduction filter? If so, try selecting just the background for noise reduction and leave the subject areas with greater detail. Jpeg compression can also make an image look 'muddy' by smearing out fine details, especially when the compression process is repeated several times.
