Nothing here really captures my interest. Without the title, this photo doesn't stand on it's own IMO. 4, just-married

I can see that thought was given to the arrangement, but to me there is more interest in the yearbook than the pens, so I'd like less of the frame on the pens. 5, just-married

The Goal

The Goal

Comment:
The pencil and ruler "goal" concept was good, but the execution needs work. I don't care for the Eiffel Tower shadow, the brightness of the green, or the dimples in the fabric. What I'd prefer is a completely different photo inspired by your concept: the two pencils balanced carefully on a child's desk, a child's hands holding the ruler into place, looking beyond that another child's fingers holding the paper football and poised to flick it into the goal. DOF tight on the child doing the flicking. 5, just-married

Why can't studies be simpler?

A bit of compression artifacts showing on the paper, but the composition is quite good. Still, even with the thought and care placed on framing the subject, you're right. It's just boring. may bump to a 6 later. 5, just-married

Looks like you had to rely on incandescent lighting here, which is causing the orange color cast. Perhaps a different colored shirt could have made that feel less prominent (as it probably adss color reflection of the sirt as well). Also would like focus a tad sharper. 5, just-married

Though validated, this looks like something I could make from scratch in Photoshop, and as such holds non photographic appeal for me personally. 3, just-married

The perspective is intriguing and captures my interest, though I think I might prefer a 90 CCW rotate with the mouthpiece right there inviting me to practice. I'm afraid I missed the Epson connection and feel that that entire portion detracts from the image. I'd prefer it if the recorder wasn't flush against the edge of the sheet music, which would enacle you to use a black background. I think that would work better as would a tighter crop on that portion on the image. 5, just-married

I would prefer a crop that eliminates the studio backdrop. 5, just-married
