I agree with Levy, the effect is good, but if it's trying to tell a story or make a point, then i can't see it.
If it didn't have the person in it, then it would make a good abstract.
Or if there as something else visible along with the person, then it would maybe more clear?

this is a lovely shot.
it really shows how relaxed and at ease the puppy is.
the lighting and focus are spot on too.

my only fault would be the background....but you probably knew I was going to say that :-)
If you just cropped half an inch off of the top and got rid of the black line.

no-one has commented on your first entry, so I will.....

first the negative: the white inbetween the eyes look a little blown out and the overall quality of the image looks like it was maybe taken with a lower resolution setting?

next the positive: you've gotten down to eye level with the cat which i think is really important.
the eye peeping over the top of the foot is great, it makes me feel as though I've just woken it from it's slumber.
