Interesting idea. I'm sorry if this seems negative, but here goes ... If the metalic parts were in better focus, I think it would improve the image. I am guessing the dark band on the left is the smoke and hence the subject of the image. If this were better defined and possibly better focused, I also think it would improve the image. As is, the gold metalic part seems to overpower the photo. Perhaps a little less of that and a little more of the smoke?

Great idea and good composition. For whatever reason, the smoke looks kind of fake. I am pretty sure it's not. There is a fair amount of grain inthe photo. It could be due to slight under exposure.

Nice image. I can feel the sunset. Graduated levels of gray along the hills are very nicely leveled. I would have been able to score it higher if there were a more obvious tie-in to the theme.

Powerful image well captured. Also a risky shot: 1) Not a "feel good" shot which DPC voters tend to prefer; and 2) On the borderline regarding encouraging under age tobacco use. You will lose points with some voters because there's not much smoke. But all that aside, this is one of my top picks this challenge! Well done. A ribbon contender from my perspective.

I like the fact that this is a more complex image of smoke than some of the other shots. The red of the candel is nice and lends a reality to the shot that some of the others don't have. Well done -- among my top picks.
