I know you say the cat's OOF for a reason, but unfortunately, the reason is not obvious to me when I look at your photo. The cat's also washed out (I'm sure there's a reason for that, too), but overall, IMO, the picture isn't very appealing to me. Sorry.

One of the most difficult subjects is the back of an animal. Just very, very hard to make that interesting, IMO. The overexposure on the cat's back doesn't help matters. Perhaps if it were balanced with some pure black somewhere, but as it is it becomes a white, featureless area in a sea of greys. Did you, by any chance, check out the individual color channels on the original image (if you shot in color)? Maybe there was a more dnamically balanced option there.

to me, this photo would have been better without the cat.

I love the flower, but went away from this photo somewhat confused as to the subject. I'm wondering if a wide-angle lens could put the cat more in the background without loosing the perspective on the rose. The back and tail of the cat are also somewhat blown out.

The flower is beautiful, the cat should either be in focus, or even farther out of focus. The way it is now it too distracting/disturbing. I crop of just the flower would be a nice photo.

An out of focus cat doesn't go with the title. Good flower shot, though.

Get your cat to a vet! It needs focus. OK I read your forum post. It was on purpose. In that case the photo is flat, boring and simply does not work for me. It seems to be grey tones and lacks interest generaly. Of course the next commentor will love it so you must remember that it is you that you must please. I rated this one a 2 because I do not give 1s to photos I feel at least meet the challenge. Pet shots hardly ever work for more than snapshots BTW.
