Amazing!by eschelarComment: Originally posted by strangeghost: Responding to your plea for "negative" comments.
For me, I just don't buy that there's something in the book that is so amazing. Other ideas? A boy looking at his first girly magazine; a film photographer looking at the price of a dSLR; a woman opening a jewelry box, etc., you get the idea. There has to be something that communicates with the viewer that matches the expression of amazement on the guy's face. For a challenge "literary," I have trouble coming up with a good idea, but that's my take. |
Now, if I received 'negative' comments like this I'd be quite happy :) IMHO this isn't a negative comment its constructive critisism with some very good ideas for improvement :) I still like the shot as is though and am impressed with your dedication to get the setup as you wanted it. Country Roadby rexComment: My work is done here (for now) my 10th comment on your work tonight Rex and I find I've voted on this in the challenge (didn't comment however).
I gave it a 5. As other commenters mentioned, its not an image that makes you go 'wow' and although I'm happy with the composition 'middle of the road' is the best I can come up with. Oh, if you drive this way to work everyday I'm a little worried you didn't know you were entering a 25mph zone!! |

He's A Pepper, She's A Pepperby rexComment: Nice idea Rex, you know, I prefer your 'simple' images (not meaning simple to take but uncluttered and with plenty of negative space). I agree with the commenters about the aspect ratio, I thought they were bringing out a stubby can ;) Oh, and thanks to skiprow I'll be checking out the left to right theory on billboards for ever now lol.
editing to actually say something about the image (sorry). A few other commenters mentioned tha 'flatness' of the image. Looking at the shadow I imagine you got cleaned up the white background during post processing? this may have lost some of the 'pop' in the can (I just had to say that). The light spray of water is an excellent touch ;) Message edited by author 2006-03-14 16:53:44. |

Goldenby rexComment: I've already offered you 1 challenge to revist a shot and I'd like to see you do this again (maybe a whole year after the first version?). Another simple yet effective shot and I'd love to see if you can improve on it one year later ;) (reshooting is something I keep meaning to do but never get around to, I think its a good gauge of how/if one is improving over time). From the Earth to the Moon by Jules Verneby alpharichComment: Big lens for a big moon ;) Its not the sharpest moon shot I've seen but reckon the craters are more visable than most shots achieve. I'm wondering if this is a crop and if so if you sacrificed some of the size for sharpness it would have helped? (beats my moon shots hands down) |
