Expectations by mpetersComment: There's really so much to like about this image! Love the handling of the light such that the texture of the white fabrics is "there" and distinct from the background. The color of the ornament helps draw attention to those lovely eyes. The skin tones are subtle and beautifully rendered. This is not just another "family photo"...it makes me want to know this child...it is as if I have just asked her a question and she is about to give me the answer. Soft and pretty! The gloves are too large for her hands, I feel, but with everything else going for it, that can be "excused" because all other intentions are so well met. Well done! |

Fore-Tee Belowby CitadelComment: Wish the logo wasn't showing at all...I think it'd be more interesting as a study in form. |

roseby sigrun_thComment: The large white border belies the greyness of the background and (especially for this challenge) should have been minimized in my opinion. The intrusive blob in the lower right corner is a distraction and more so because one of the subject's sepals points right to it. Otherwise the subject has delicate lighting which helps show its form in a pleasing way. |

Phalaenopsis orchidby mkramarcComment: I think the subject either needs to be presented "whole" without the awkward cutting off of the blossoms at the frame or somehow a point of interest needs to be created by selecting a part of the whole. There is a beautiful arch of blossoms...but the spiral curve is interrupted. |

Are you looking at me?by NuzzerComment: Interesting pose for this gull. Would like to see more of a background as it looks rather stark and out of context without it. |

Light-Grey Lichen w/a 'Raspberry'by pixelpigComment: Some detail in the background would help this subject settle in the frame better. Yes, I see the "face" in the lichen...doesn't compel much interest however. |

Marguarita Snowballby TlemetryComment: Your title makes me feel like I must be missing some point you were trying to make. (Also, it's "marguerita.") |

Petals on the Snowby PrismComment: Having the background leaves and stem cut off by the frame is not a distraction but losing the most prettily lit petal to the crop is. |

Classic tea set studyby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: A fair still-life study. I think the camera angle is a tad low (or is it too wide of an angle on the lens) making it feel not quite level and not quite vertical. I like repetition in form but cutting off the handle of the carafe takes away one of those repetitions. The handle of the cup frames an inconsequential part of the whole and might have been more rhythmic if it had been turned to the outside. This set up is difficult to light and keep good reflections in the surfaces--that I think you handled well. |

Soarby zhekaComment: I like the head-on pose of the bird as it feels as if it will soon fly into me. But the image lacks overall interest beyond that one facet. |
