baba-2.jpgby theodor38Comment: Ok. I'm going to go out on a limb here. I've seen the pictures of your father that you've been posting--you know they are excellent.
But here is your father, happy that you are interested in capturing him and proud that you are such a fine artist. Here also are his questioning eyes--is this all you are going to do while we visit? Here are his loving eyes--I will be patient. Here is is mouth--slightly amused. Here is his chin, ready to say something--he will keep silent for the moment. Here is his forehead, tired, concerned, but not closed to you--I am old, there is little time, you are so young and I have so much to tell.
(By the way, he is more handsome than you.) ;-) |

Only Wordsby pottersclay75Comment: Sweetly posed. All the technical elements seem to be in place except the cropping. The lower left and upper right corners draw attention away from the subject. |

Perchedby MalokataComment: Interesting point of view. I like the choice of B&W as it seems to hold the elements of the image together. Her expression seems a bit random, as if you said "hold it!" and snapped the photo--just a bit awkward, to me. |

Getting ready for the paradeby indianzfanComment: Interesting character! The exposure feels wrong to me--just a bit overbright on the cardboard hat and the spectators in the background. I'd like to see more "context" too--without the title it's not a very clear subject. |

Zen Gardenby breckinshireComment: Your subject has potential. Because the 2 items are separated by so much non-descript space the don't have a strong compositional relationship to each other. And, though you've cropped out most of the harsh shadows beneath the head, it seems that adding another light source would help. The background and shallow depth of field is on the right track, but lack of a sharp focal point hurts the overall effect. |

The World's Longest Raceby slimComment: What a lucky find you have in your subject! I'm sure they didn't pose for long.... It seems the exposure could be better--perhaps burning in on the heads would help? There's a great amount of detail lost in the highlights on the shells, as well. A decent family portrait, it just lacks punch. |

Autumnby KoriyamaComment: A pretty scenic! I like the way the colors play throughout the whole. The background shadow and the stream nearly make a pleasing S shape, but something about the composition just doesn't feel balanced to me. I do like motion blur on long exposures of water, but I think this is perhaps a little too long, making the stream silky does create an interesting contrast with the hard and immobile stones...it just feels overdone. Still, a pleasing image on many levels. |

Shades of Scarletby WobbleComment: What expression! The high-key really enhances your subject and composition. However, I think the skin tone is unsettlingly yellow. Would this have worked as well (or better) in a duo-tone? Still, a beautifully captured expression--the life-lights in the eyes draw one in. |
