Nice perspective, although the focus looks a little soft when I look at the details near the left edge on the bridge wall.

I like your composition, however the image seems a little bit dark.

It's a shame so many people didn't understand the message you were trying to convey. I guess there isn't enough photo for people to rate on.

Hi. I tend to agree with the others... The photo is nice but since the challenge is Yellow I would have been a lot closer to the duck, with a lot less surrounding it. Ignoring the challenge the photo has a nice range of colours and objects in it.

Good luck for your next entry.

Becky,

I'm surprised this image scored so low in the challenge. Looking at your camera you've done very well for a .3MP camera... Although no-one knows this during voting unfortunately.

Personally I thought it was fairly yellow... Perhaps you could have fiddled in photoshop (or similar) to increase the amount of yellow.

Finally, did you take this shop from a tripod or handheld? If you say handheld then you did really well to get it this sharp even - I tried fireworks once and made a terrible mess than to the long exposure and camera shake.

Good luck for your next entry.

Looks like you suffered for not having yellow in the photo. As others suggested, perhaps if you just stuck the cord into the banana, instead of wrapping it in foil, would have helped... Even if it was still in black and white.

It looks like "brown spots" would have scored better than "foil".

The eyes are stunning. It looks like the camera may have focused on the waterdrops rather than the cat. Are you able to manually override the focus on your camera?

Hi. I didn't get to your image during voting, but thought I would comment now. As other people have said one of the problems with this image is that it's washed out. The black isn't very black and the white isn't very white. Your Westward Bound has slightly better contrast.

Have you looked at "histograms" or "levels" in your photo editing tool, or even simply "brightness/contrast"? Also have a look at the tutorials section on this site for some helpers.

Unfortunately I didn't get to vote on your image during the challenge. I think your biggest problem was a lack of light. If the image had been bright and smooth then it would have scored much better. There were a lot of angles and lines to add interest to the photo.

If practical I would suggest going back and retaking the photo. Perhaps bounce light off the roof if you want to avoid reflections, but give it plenty of light. One other option might be to try and salvage the photo somewhat using "denoise" or some of the special ISO filters in photoshop.
