Nearly, but the top of the head is burned out and the face and body seem to merge into blackness. I do like him and it makes me laugh. As you have a digital camera - even if you do not have proper studio lights - a spotlight pointing lower left may have pulled out a little detail

As this was appearing I was thing - Yes - Brilliant - something a bit different. I love the idea but I don't think the shape is quite near enough. I am glad though that someone did at least think a bit more out of the box and as it's a good shape and interesting I still go with a 7

One thing, for me, has spoiled this picture and it would be easy to put it right. This very funny monkey has a great texture. It makes what could have been an ordinary soft toy "special" BUT the background which has the right colour to bring out his colour is too shiny. It is competing with his "sparkliness/glitter". Such a small thing. Try reshooting it with a similar colour cloth but non-reflective. I hope you think it makes a difference

Such a shame that the snow burned out so much. Very difficult shot to get away with unless you meter from the right place. I guess you metered from the animal. If you can with your camera - thiswould have been one of those to use grey card on. Of course if yours is fully automatic then that would be impossible and in that case cropping it differently would help eliminate the problem but still leave some snow. If you want - I will email you a jpg of how I would crop it.

As this was appearing on the screen I liked it until the teeth appeared so burned out. Good directional lighting (like 30's Hollywood) giving the "evil" look but the catchlights and reflections are a bit harsh. Reflecting the light off a gold reflector may have help - it may have even have emphasised the orange of the face.

I wonder if this is going to be one of those pictures that gets the "does it fit into the category" comment. I like it though - very much. The only crit is the burned out area above the eye. It may not be like that on the original so apologies if it isnt. Therefore 7 not an 8. I think it is an interesting use of the symbol (assume it is the symbol for dragon). Shame the face is not a tad more oriental looking.

I found myself looking at the cluttered background too much - A piece of tissue paper over the flash would have helped diffuse the light a little and would have eased the burned out centre. It is exceptionally hard to get a good picture of a black and white animal like this.

Nice colour saturation - I would have cropped the top closer to his head to tighten it up.

Interesting but I find the Spike shadows disruptive. Everything else is curved/rounded but the spikey shadows do not appear to come from anything connected. He does have a creepy sort of face. In photoshop I dodged the left of the picture and got rid of the shadow (I know you can't for the competition) and it transformed him into a real evil character.
