| 11/06/2004 06:14:32 AM | The Great Smoky Mountainsby DougPazComment: This is a lovely scenery shot, though it doesn't feel, erm, full enough. the colours, shades, contrast feels just a bit too muted. i realise it's because of the mist, and the mist does add that kind of ambience, but i feel a little more contrast would bring it more alive. still very very nice though, bumping up to 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/06/2004 05:50:56 AM | Shadowsby loboz33Comment: what a lovely simple effective study in light. it's a good clean image - the only slight reservation i have is with regards to the tight cropping and narrow presentation of the shot. something a bit squarer might more naturally sut the shape of the cup. that aside, spiffing stuff - 8 |
| 11/05/2004 12:21:13 PM | The Harvestby DJLubaComment: if it were me editting this, i think i would be tempted to crop the shot from just below the closest hedges. everything above this line looks as if it cold be a painting, what with the lush bright colours, solid greens and the pleasantly visal blue sky. the grassy bits of stuff in the foreground just looks messily realistic in comparison and reduces the effect. it's a very lovely view, and nicely taken, no doubt. 6. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 11:03:55 AM | Daydream Believerby grigrigirlComment: must admit, the photographers / artists on this site are getting much braver nowadays. not only is this a particularly and incredibly sensual piece, it's been done with a ton of style and panache. the lighting is just fantastic - the way it plays off the white reflective panelling, gently flowing through the gauzy material of the dress, and brightly coming through the window is just top notch. the sepia is perfectly selected tones and shades works wonderfully well. location is brilliant and inspired. the girl and her pose is what really gives this it's unfaultable sparkle - the way she's turning to look at you, it speaks a million words. this is truly brilliant, and in terms of photography being an art, thoroughly spiffing. 10. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 09:46:20 AM | Bad Moon Risingby jbsmithanaComment: I wonder if black and white was the best choice for such a shot. i keep imagine a white moon against a blue sky, and i think the solid, single shade of grey sky kind of diminishes the imapct of the moons presence. the fore and middle ground consisting of rocks is quite featureless, although i'm intrigued by the outcropping on the right (getting closer to that feature would i think have added interest). 3. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 09:40:52 AM | Vaseby phobdenComment: by avoiding the pointing out of the obvious in your title, you've somehow made the sense of realisation (oooh! outline of a cat!) that bit more special. so it's a feelgood picture. it's cute, likeable, but it has limited viewing appeal in terms of duration - i can't imagine returning to such a picture very often, but i think it would provide a talking point for guests if hanging on a wall. 6. |
| 11/05/2004 09:20:22 AM | Boundby BobsterLobsterComment: kinky? definitely. trashy? personally i don't think so. i like the pale whiteness of the whole image - her skin, clothing, hair and background. brings out the darker (colour and spirit) aspect of the restraint. the furriness of the clothing does make the whole scene more playful, which i think is a very good thing. 9. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 09:15:06 AM | Steam train tracksby Pep VentosaComment: very atmospheric picture, this. the mist, the wet leaves across the tracks, the colours and the calm all make for a very nice image. the angle of the shot, and the composition with the tracks to the side all works incredibly well. must confess, it isn't the most emotionally stirring shot, but it's great to absorb and deserves a well earned 8. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 07:49:14 AM | Fly on a Fingertipby dsa157Comment: first off, i think your title is a little bit obscure. HA HA not really... In terms of technical ability, this is a stunning macro shot. the detail of the fly is very cool, and quite interesting. But why on a finger tip. i would never say the B word, but, well, it just doesn't convey a great deal of exciting. i think putting it on a cookie / biscuit / cake might prove more diverse. the finger fills too much of the shot like a big pink blob, and i think such a set-up is a bit of a lost opportunity. like i said before, you cannot fault the skill used in taking this picture, so for that you get a 7. but why a finger?? | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 11/05/2004 07:27:01 AM | You've been warned!by DrJOnesComment: eleven! i so want to give an eleven. godammit, i am so tempted to create another member account just so i can award this two tens. this is one of the funniest most brilliant pictures i've ever seen here. everything is so completely spot on. i love how the darkness envelopes the background. there is a lot of skill in this picture. adding to favourites, and awarding a 10. |
