The DOF is very shallow and focused on a weird part of the exposure. Fix that and I'd like it much better as it is a good composition and subject.

Happy birthday Rob, but sorry, this photo has no business being in a photo competition. Other then the angle, this is nothing more then a party snapshot. Note, eight other people will say the same thing, but next time use the full 640pix allowed.

Focus is not soft enough to be soft and not crisp enough to be in focus. Also, the colors are very dull.

Very nice. This has the wow factor that a lot of photos are missing. If you haven't already tried it, maybe a crop to comply to rule of thirds could make it even better?

I can't tell what is in focus? Typically a photo needs a main subject that draws your attention and the rest of the photo complements it. Here the whole photo is screaming at me and I can't tell what it's trying to say.

very plain, boring and everyday... I wouldn't hang my breakfast on the wall. It lacks punch. Also, a textured background rarely works.
