Initial impressions - quite breathtaking.
Compositionally this feels very strong. Wonderful movement and emotion in that sky, and a gorgeous smooth body of water. Technically, I sure do not see any shortcomings to this image. The colors and lighting are beautiful. What a stunning place to be able to visit.
Congratulations on a great score and high finish. Thanks for sharing.

Gone fishin'by RyanWComment: *Greetings from the Critique Club*
Initial impressions - there appeared on my computer to be a rather bold blue line right above the tree line, and something about the trees feels a bit unnatural. These both distracted a bit for me.
Compositionally, I like what you were going for. Your fisherman is front and center, and I like the prominence of the subject and fishing pole. Technically, your subject is nice and sharp, and I like the colors. However the lighting feels just a bit flat and that odd line right at the tree line made me think that something was a bit off. (Topaz adjustments??) I'm also wondering if having the whole rod, rather than it having the tip cut-off might have made for a slightly stronger composition - or maybe the lens just wasn't quite wide enough to capture it all?
Overall I liked the image, and you were a 6 from me in the challenge. I thought it was a nice portrait, but that odd bit around the trees kept it from scoring higher from me. |

Compositionally, most of the image works for me. I enjoyed the pattern in the glass, and the interesting color pattern behind the glass. Also, I like the tilted perspective. What I struggled a bit with was the lack of any point of interest behind the glass. Yet the glass itself did not feel like the whole story to me.
Technically I think the sharpness and clarity of the glass was well done. I thought the light behind the glass was quite nice, but the light on the glass seemed a bit flat.
I think your image may suffered in the challenge primarily due to a questionable 'organic' basis. Organic to me says created by nature. Glass comes from nature, but is processed by name. I also struggled to come up with any geometry in nature that would have the square pattern seen in your glass. (During voting, I didn't score it as a DNMC since glass indeed originates from nature - and I liked the unique perspective you captured. But I did think it was a bit of a reach.)
Thanks for such a thoughtful image for us to consider.
