This is an excellent picture Tony and deserved a higher placing IMO.
I`ve been trying to work out how you managed to get 38 votes under 5 and can`t quite do it.
Maybe the faded out look of the background worked against you..although I think it helps to isolate the subject and should have been one of the plusses.

There`s nothing like dark shadow for giving shape & delineation to areas of an image and you use that to perfection here Julia.

I don`t think anything invokes the feeling of the passing of time more thoroughly than a rummage through the box of old photographs.
The sepia treatment has just added the final touches to the overall ambience.
