The way it used to beby maelmsComment: I like the way you have laid this out..it`s busy but it works (at least for me).
Lots to keep the interest and very fitting for the theme of the challenge.
Well done |

Claremont Harvestby ChubbaComment: Low tech doesn`t come much lower :)
Good silhouette with some very nice background tones.
There seems to be a few of what look like compression artifacts..I hope it doesn`t affect your score too much....8 |

BradP Must be Stopped! by tyt2000Comment: There`s nothing funnier than real life and the ironies that are thrown up...and this is a classic.
Well conceived and executed..congratulations on the ribbon.

once upon a timeby geewhyComment: Thanks to all for the comments...firstly, this was only intended as an experiment and as such is far from finished or even cleaned up (as you will see from the tree tops).
The image I used is in my portfolio..(The road to nowhere)..it was selected for it`s obvious "fairy tale" feel.
I just applied my normal mix of Levels and curves adjustments to blow out the highlights and darken the shadows..then dodged and burned to bring detail back to some mid range areas and fade it from other areas.
Finally, an application of NI to soften it.
The most important factor in all of this is finding the right subject ...without it you will struggle to get the "feel".
You will notice that the original already has the "fairy tale" look.
All I have tried to do is enhance it.
Thamer.. I haven`t tried a "dark version" as I don`t think it would have the same appeal with this particular image. Message edited by author 2004-12-03 15:11:12. |

BradP Must be Stopped! by tyt2000Comment: One of the standouts for me in a disappointingly poor challenge.
Must be in the running for a ribbon place. |
