At your age, I am just out there admiring good photos. You are making good photos. My salute to you.

| 09/21/2005 07:40:26 AM | Fade to Blackby JutildaComment: Hi Judy. This is a good portrait. Too much glow, yes, I agree. It doesn't suit your subject. Also, it is a bit too centered.
Anyway, I would suggest a more radical approach. With picture you have now, lower down the contrast through curves and add some noise. Also, play around with the selective colors. This is a good photo but could be even better. This should have been in the 6.5 range... JMHO. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 09/19/2005 09:23:00 AM | Vividby frumoazniculComment: Very good picture. The eyes speak so much, and the colors and textures are so vivid. It is compositionally strong as the many patterns does not stray us from her magnificent eyes. You know the outstanding features of your model and you used it to the hilt. Love this. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

Great tones and well-conceived.

| 09/06/2005 11:14:09 AM | Delicate & Lovely by librodoComment: NO EXCUSES for comments below. Well, I guess I just know how to adapt my style.
Actually, if it is a 'fashion" photography, I do smoothen the face using neatimage. I also clone out imperfections. However, if I intend it to be a gritty image, I leave it as it is...even make it more grungy. As far as having my work recognized, it can work both ways. The 2 1's explain it.
If you want un-smoothen face...documentary style of photography, I would like to plug my site. Please click the link underneath and please leave some comments. I am very proud of this gallery.

Unbelievable. Guess that's the prize for being a recognizable and very well liked artist on this site.
Of course, compositionally it is as great as ever, although I'd have loved to have seen a more colorful background. The black seems to really point out the over-sharpening where a more natural background may have helped hide it a little more. Also, once again, would that I had a bank of "exotic" looking people to shoot.. seems to really make a punch with North Americans.
Anyway, for me, a touch less of smoothing and sharpening would give this photo some real life..
Guess that's why I usually don't score well here. |
As I also commented during challenge, I completely agree with everything Artyste says. It's a pitty that this site has become a "whoever is the most popular in the forums" wins. No offence intended to librodo, and nothing against him, it is the only image I commented in the challenge, that means it clearly triggered my attention, I really feel the image would be wonderful with regardless how much noise. Like this it looks like the poor girl is wrapped in a plastic bag, a manequin a doll anything but human. You have true talent it is obvious and it's a pitty that you ruin your work just to please the DPC forums audience.
However congrats for the ribbon. |
Agreed.

I agree as well...And no offense at ALL to Manny, please don't get me wrong. I just think that, more often than not, if someone recognizes a popular photog's work here on DPC, they will give it a high score, regardless of whether or not it is terribly creative or well done.
*shrugs*
But yes. Congratulationa on the ribbon, you do rock, librodo! : ) |
