Almost looks like four "buddies" hanging out in the surf. One has a green scarf, and one has long hair.

A little too posed for my tastes. I think you were going for "look at what happened to this pristine beach", but I got more of a "I placed 4 bottles in the surf and took a picture" feeling.

I do like the effect of the longer shudder.

Another time of day might have yeilded better results. As is, the background steals some of the focus due to it's brightness. Maybe a different angle too?

I'm not getting good, deep blacks out of the image... looks a bit light to me.

I also don't feel like garbage is the focus here, and I think that was the challenge... personally.

Good story here... only could have been better if that guy in green was carring a box out for the pile. This image might have done well in B&W, just to bring out some interest. Maybe find an angle halfway between the two main signs. The red sign could be a bit more legible, I had to strain to look, so it didn't immediately add a lot to the image.

Only down-side is that it's very 2 dimensional. Could have added some depth by taking this same shot at a bit of an angle.
