rested noiseby skybelowComment: Nice. I love how you're not afraid to get close to your subject and explore the intricacies and flaws--the worn edges of the pick and the dust collecting around the frets. I admire your courage: you get a 10. |

Preserved Roseby pitsamanComment: Wow, this has potential. Put that flower up against the Wall Street Journal's pale yellow stock pages and this would've won the contest by far. I'll still give you a 9 for being pretty damn creative. I've never thought of this before. |

Death Do We Partby crabappl3Comment: Very contrived, as I'm sure you were going for. But when you're working with delicate, dried petals, you needs something rugged and hard to contrast. Shiny rings don't work. Maybe against a wood or marble background in black and white. |

Holding Stillby K-RobComment: Interesting, but those shadows across the middle of the apple...comeon, gotta get rid of those. |

Greenhouse Doorby JMSComment: This should be in black and white, without a doubt. Whenever you have wood (and brick) that's this rugged and weathered, choose black and white, without question. |

Rosa, rosae...by azuzarteComment: Beautiful. I can smell these roses. Perfect placement and point-of-view. Next time, do everything you can to sharpen that main rose! |

Meerschaum Pipesby justineComment: Weird, wild stuff. I like it; it's somewhat intriguing. Work on your use of space and background elements. I'll expand: Your background has become washed out in the light of your subject. There actually is very little background at all. Give the viewer a sense of where this pipe fits into the fabric of life. Is it an artifact? An heirloom? Tell us a story with you picture. This piece has such texture and delicacy, you'd benefit from a viewpoint that better utlized your space. Message edited by author 2003-11-12 03:11:44. |
