overall i'm not impressed with the amount of silhouette front-line subjects in this challenge. if someone was to read all of my comments in this challenge they'd see a very strong trend and several copy/paste comments.
i really like the sky you're showing here, but the silhouetted barbed wire along with the black land at the bottom of the frame are very detracting in my opinion.

i just want more from this picture. more light on that black bottom and more drama/color in the sky (naturally, not overcooked to get it there).
i know we don't all get ideal shots, and thank you for not trying to fake it, but it just doesn't have the punch that i'd like to see to give it a high score.

nice image, and it has a lot going for it in that you're not trying to use this same shot to enter silhouettes, but as for the topic being sunrise/set, i find the sky is a little too dark in the composition. to quote a famous movie line "missed it by *that* much" for timing in the sky.
i still think it's a beautiful shot and i'm giving it a 6

i love how calm the water is here, like a sheet of glass reflecting the sky.
image is not overdone, and is not trying to be something it isn't - it's perfect how it is.

i don't mind the blurring on the clouds, that's to be expected in a long exposure like this
i am very glad to see that you didn't silhouette the scenery here; and i love the cloud cover over the city. right now this image is in my top 2 favorite i've seen so far and i'm giving it an 8 as such.

Very little silhouette here, which is a nice change of pace from many entries i've seen pop up so far (unsure total how many because i didn't do a thumbnail view before starting on the images)
I appreciate the scenery here with the emphasis on the sky above the city and the fun shapes in the clouds, while also not overcooking the image.
i'm giving this a 7

Volcanic Island Sunset

this is almost surreal in it's appearance. the silky waves and sand look more like a generated image i would expect to see at digital blasphemy.
i can't fault you on the technicals, and it is definitely more sunset than silhouette (which many entries are turning out to be)
while i do expect the look of this to resonate strongly with voters, i'm also a little sad that i don't like it as much as i think i may have in a lot of other challenges due to the heavy processing.
i'm going to give this a 7 now to keep it higher in my list for a second look, and i reserve the right to change my mind based on how i feel after i finish voting 100% (this would normally be given a 9 or 10 by me but i'm jaded with this challenge line-up and the entries i've seen so far)
