Thank you guys for the comments. i'm happy with the pic regardless of score or placement, it's not technically perfect but that wasn't the intention; this captures who my son is: happy, healthy, bright and a little mischevious and i`m glad to see that resonated with some other people :)

I'm not quite sure how to comment here. i'm going for 100% so i'll just say my thoughts on the image:

the warped house/land in the background make me feel slightly uneasy when staring at the doll on the horse - i know something is not right - we cannot see such a shift in the world and it immediately has a negative impact on this image for me from the onset.
the blue tube is inconsistently lit when compared to the background. i know an argument could be made for the snow reflecting light, but the house appears to be lit from the left side of the screen based on shadows, as does the horse based on the sheen, so they make sense.
you appear to have made a shadow in the middle to account for the horse going over it which is nice attention to detail; but with the light on the left side, the shadow should be further to the right side, not directly underneath.

overall you have a good concept here and have put some good work into your entry; the biggest thing keeping me from putting the score above a 6 is the perspective of the house/landscape.

I'm going to take a guess that this is Snaffles for a few reasons (antique-y toys, country home, look of the surrounding area looks like some of the areas south-west of Ottawa (though the same could be said of many country homes); but mostly it's just a gut feeling.

the title made me laugh, the face of the pug made me laugh more
of all faces in the world, the pug is the perfect "why me" face.
good call.

(commenting only)

i still have a hard time discerning exactly what is happening here, but that doesn't mean i'm not enthralled by the strands of pure nothingness and the crack in reality that these people are holding on to.

good job clearing up the upper-right and upper-left guys from the haloes they had, the image looks quite seamless now.

once you pass the novice (plastic) level, the kites become more and more dangerous until you reach fully metal kites with thin copper wire for the string.
nobody has survived to see what level lies beyond that...

nice capture on this one.
i love that the lightning strikes look like a walking abomination of nature (with one leg/arm raised up and ready to strike down those who deserve it's wrath, below)

i'm at a bit of a loss here for what to say, but i'm trying to comment 100% with either thoughtful comments, what i think worked/didn't for me, or something that i find witty. so here goes.

"what jim failed to realize was that being told you can't blindly train birds was a personal critique on his failure to see what was plainly in front of him; not that he required previous training in the field"

i do enjoy the artistic concept of the image and find it quite pleasant to look at; for the challenge it's a loose fit in my eyes, but that in no way alters it's simplicity and beauty. i'm still giving this an 8.
