Sinko De Mayoby RyanWComment: Thanks to all who commented.
I had fun with this and comments are worth so much more than score to me on this. I love that you all took some time to have fun with my image. That's the best thing I could hope for! |

The building blocks of changeby RyanWComment: Originally posted by herfotoman: Funny thing, one's brain. I definitely had to "force" mine to see the upturned M as a W, as it came back with NEM all the time. |
That m/w was the starter of the whole thing. my son was playing with his blocks and the M/W as well as the A and Y were close by, i read it immediately as WAY, but then realized it was the M.
Unfortunately i couldn't get all the letters to be in the painted sections, so i opted for using the E and A in the middle of the last two words as a second way of looking at things.
The color and tilt are also on purpose, tilt is to make some people physically tilt their head to see something, color is because we're used to seeing wooden blocks being...well, wooden, and not having tones and highlights throughout the surface pop out this way.
I knew it'd be in the bottom three when i was processing, but I didn't enter for score, i really wanted people to think on this image, so i'm glad to hear that at least one person had to force their brain to adapt to see what i was doing :) |

~PSYCHOTROPIC~by LVicariComment: i think your image blows away the inspiration image.
If i were to put the 2 side by side and not know, i'd say his was the 2nd shot inspired by this.
truly deserved a higher finish placement-wise in my opinion. a 6.6 and it's placement in a free study are still fantastic though, great image! |

Sadby RyanWComment: Thank you :)
I will say though, its hard to get action shots of strangers expressing emotion. I was 15ft up in the food court on lunch when she came in the main doors. Relied on auto focus and it missed the mark. Ah well... should've gone for higher aperature value and brightened in PP... harder to fix focus. Lessonlearned :)
I was hoping for a mid 5 with this (5.4-5.65). Tpl seems to be critical on my entries. Only way to Iimprove though, really. |
